Geospiza magnostris finch

Darwin's observation that the finches of the Galapagos islands - such as this Geospiza magnirostris - show geographic variation led him to suppose that all the Galapagos finches were descended from one ancestral finch. For Darwin, this was a key step in formulating his theory of evolution.
