Archaeopteryx

archaeopteryx.jpg

This remarkable fossil provides an insight into the origin of birds. Named Archaeopteryx, which means "ancient feather", the skeleton of this creature resembles that of a theropod dinosaur. This has led many authors to suggest that the origin of birds is closely linked to the dinosaur group.
