BRAIN ASYMMETRY IN HUMAN SACCADIC PROGRAMMING AND ATTENTION. EEG POTENTIALS

There isn't enough information about dependence of saccadic programming and attention from right or left eyes stimulation and brain asymmetry of this process. And so our goals were to study presaccadic EEG brain potentials characteristics in monoculary conditions of visual stimulation. EEG was recorded in 18 healthy subjects (15 were right-handed) from frontal, parietal, occipital and temporal areas. Stimulus were given to the right and to the left eye. Tree standard schemes namely OVERLAP, SS and GAP were used. Controlateral parietal eye field location of command potential N -45 was revealed. N -145 potential more often was located in right hemisphere and there amplitude was higher before left directed saccades (p<0.05). Probably that N -145 potential reflects visual perception and spatial attention. It was established that in attention's engage and stimulus sensory conflict conditions additional negative potential N -215 in right hemisphere appeared during saccades latency period. N -145 amplitude certainly increased in vertex area (Cz). It might be reflection of non-specific activation's influence from subcortical structures. Obtained data point out certan adventage ot leading eye not only fixation's processes but in spatial attention and saccadic programming also. Most difficulties in saccadic programming were when stimulus presented to the left eye from left hemyfield.
