SELECTIVE INFLUENCE OF THE LOW DOSES OF D1, D2 ANTAGONISTS ON THE WHITE RATS MATERNAL MOTIVATION

It is well known that dopaminergic system plays a large role in the regulation of maternal behavior (Silva et al., 2003). In present study we investigated the influence of D1, D2 antagonists haloperidol and D2 antagonist clebopride on rats maternal reactions. Dams behavior was measured from 4th till 9th day after parturition. The latency and number of pups approaches and transfers were estimated. A lower dose of haloperidol (0,1 mg/kg; i/p) didn't decrease females motor activity, but had the effect on paternal reactions. The total amount of approaches after haloperidol administration was significantly smaller then in vehicle-treated conditions (p<0,05). A higher dose of haloperidol (0,2 mg/kg) showed not only disruption in maternal behavior but decrease the level of motor activity. We saw significantly longer latencies of approaches to pups and reduction of the number of approaches (p<0,05). These findings have demonstrated evident dose-dependent effects of haloperidol. Similar results were obtained in experiments with two doses of clebopride. A higher dose of this antagonist (0,5 mg/kg) showed negative effect on motor activity and decrease the number of approaches and transfers of newborns. The lower dose of clebopride (0,2 mg/kg) showed significant decrease a number of approaches only (p<0,05). These findings are of interest in the view of analysis of maternal motivation neurochemical mechanisms and possible correction of parental behavior over manifestations.
