An electronic file associated with a document (e.g. a graphic file). Information about an electronic file can be included in attributes of file. e.g.

filesize="14607088" height="13.67cm" width="10.43cm" />
The attributes: colour, dpi, filesize, height, width are used for alternative graphics.

- copyright -- the copyright holder of content or an object
- parameter -- a parameter associated with a file
- alternativemath -- alternative version of a mathematical construction
- filegroup -- a group of files
- forenames -- a person's forenames (given names)
- formula -- a mathematical formula
- fullname -- the complete name of an author etc.
- objectsource -- the source of an object
- related -- a file or document related to the current document
- surname -- a person's surname (family name)
