Information about the copyright-holder of a document or an object.

Depending on its context copyright means the following:

| contentinfo/copyright | The owner of the copyright of the content, for example, the publisher of a journal or book |
| documentinfo/copyright | The owner of the copyright of the document, for example the author of a journal article or book chapter.
Usually contentinfo/copyright and documentinfo/copyright are the same, but occasionally an author of e.g. a journal article will retain copyright even though the copyright of the journal as a whole rests with a Society or the publisher. |
| file/copyright | The copyright holder of an electronic file, for example, a graphic which an author includes in a document by permission. |
