Data sets: Two data sets are used for illustration in the paper. They are in files
PIG.DAT and BABOON.DAT respectively. PIG.DAT
The data are tabulated in four columns headed GROUP, PIG, MBP PVO2. The column headed
GROUP is an indicator of group membership; there are 3 groups. The column headed PIG
distinguishes the pigs within the groups. For example, the first four rows contain data
referring to PIG 1 in GROUP 1. MBP is mean blood pressure and PV02 is the veinous partial
oxygen presssure. BABOON.DAT
The data are tabulated in five columns headed ANIMAL, DAY, HGF, WCC, RESECTION . The
column headed ANIMAL identifies the individual baboons, DAY is the time, in days, when
measurements were taken, HGF is the circulatant hepatocyte growth factor, WCC is the total
white blood cell count, and RESECTION is an indicator of partial hepatectomy having been
