An individual measure of relative survival, by J. Stare et al
Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series C, Applied Statistics, Volume 54 (2005) part 1, 115-126

Description of the data set used in the paper:

These are data on survival after acute myocardial infarction. The names of the variables in the data set are:

ID, cohort.year, sex, age, y, status, ndays, arrhythmia, insufficiency, hypertension, diabetes, other.medicine, beta.blocker, aspirin, reinfarction.

y is the transformed time, as described in the paper (percentiles of the expected cumulative distribution function).

ndays is the actual survival time, measured in days.

Variables arrhythmia to reinfarction are binary variables (1=presence, 0=absence of the factor).

cohort.years has values 1982 to 1986, the years of the recruitment of patients.

sex has values 1 for male, 2 for female.

age is the age of the patients when they suffered AMI.

Table 5 in the paper for example was obtained in S-plus using

coxph(Surv(y,status)~age+sex+cohort.year+arrhythmia+insufficiency+hypertension+diabetes+aspirin+beta.blocker+other.medicine+reinfarction,data=miY.RSS,na.action=na.exclude)
