Period analysis of variable stars by robust smoothing, by H.-S.Oh et al
Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series C, Applied Statistics, Volume 53 (2003) part 1, 15-30

Data: The data consist of 351 separate measurements of the star's brightness, taken on 13 nights contained in a 44-night interval. The precision of each measurement is about 0.01 stellar magnitude. When two stars orbit each other in the plane of the observer, the combined brightness decreases when one member of the pair eclipses the other. The first column is time and the second column denotes magnitude.

Program: The calculations for this study are performed with the software package Fields, a module in R (Nychka, 2002). For robust smoothing spline, call the function qsreg() in Fields.
