Estimation of the basic reproduction number of infectious diseases from age-stratified serological survey data, by C. P. Farrington, M. N. Kanaan and N. J. Gay
Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series C, Applied Statistics, Volume 50 (2001) part 3, pages 251 - 292

There are five data files, all saved as tab delimited flat files.

Table1.txt contains the data in Table 1 of the paper. Table4.txt contains the data in Table 4 of the paper. Table6.txt contains the data in Table 6 of the paper.

For details of these datasets see the paper. In all three datasets age is in completed years; in our analyses we added 0.5 to obtain the age group midpoints.

For convenience we have also included the hepatitis A and Haemophilus influenzae type b datasets, both of which have appeared elsewhere. The hepatitis data were published in Keiding N. (1991). Age-specific incidence and prevalence: a statistical perspective. J. Royal Statist. Soc. A, 154, 371-412. The Hib data were compiled and published in Coen P.G., Heath P.T., Barbour M.L., and Garnett G.P. (1998). Mathematical models of Haemophilus influenzae type b. Epidemiol. Inf. 120, 281-295.

Hepa.txt contains the hapatitis A data. Col 1 is age (in completed years), col 2 is number seropositive, col 3 is total tested.

Hib.txt contains the Haemophilus influenzae type b data. Col 1 is age (average of the group), col 2 is number of carriers, col 3 is number tested.
