On the measurement and analysis of asymmetry with applications to facial modelling, by M. T. Bock and A. W. Bowman
Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series C, Applied Statistics, Volume 55 (2006), 77 - 91

The following files contain data, R functions and R code to illustrate the calculation of asymmetry scores.

example.r the R code to be executed.
example.sav the set of landmarks defining an example face. This is an R `save' file in ascii form.
asymmetry.r a file containing the definitions of the R
functions required. This file is sourced
by example.r.

The example can be run by placing all the files in the same directory, launching R and sourcing the example.r file.

The example uses a single set of landmarks in matrix form, defining a face. However, the asymmetry function has been constructed to operate on a three-dimensional array, with the third dimension indexing the members of a set of faces.
