Sivapithecus

Sivapithecus.jpg

This 8 million year old specimen of sivapithecus indicus comes from the Petwar plateau in Pakistan. The animal was about the size of a chimpanzee but had the facial morphology of an orang-utan; it ate soft fruit (detected in the toothwear pattern) and was probably mainly arboreal.
