Non-Coding DNA

"One of the most interesting recent discoveries about the genomes of eukaryotic organisms is that, first of all, there seems to be an enormous amount of DNA in a genome that doesn't seem to doing anything; its not coding for a functional product. Also, if we look at different organisms the same or different in their complexity there doesn't seem to be any obvious relationship between much DNA they have got and how complicated and varied their phenotype is. The resolution of that paradox turns out to be the presence of a lot of non-functional (or apparently non-functional) DNA in the genome."
