Established in the UK in the 1920s, Blackwell Publishing Ltd, is now the worlds leading society publisher, with over 6,000 books in print. We are partners with 665 academic, medical and professional societies, and we publish 805 journals. Blackwells mission is to provide an expert publishing service to other experts - authors, editors, librarians, researchers, teachers and their students, societies and professionals. In July 2005, Blackwell took this mission to the next level by establishing an offshore printing and distribution centre in Singapore, Blackwell Publishing Services Singapore (BPSS).
Blackwell and Singapore - A Successful Partnership
In 2002, we investigated the viability of setting up an offshore centre in Singapore by carefully carrying out a 6-month pilot project covering 37 titles. At the end of the pilot, we had gathered sufficient data to immediately scale up to 101 titles by the end of 2003. On 18th July 2005, we officially opened our offshore office, Blackwell Publishing Services Singapore (BPSS). Today we manage the print, distribution and logistics for over 500 titles from Singapore. The transition has been smooth and our clients are happy that we provide the same high level of service that they are accustomed to. Our suppliers are totally committed to Blackwell and provide a range of service level reporting that gives us absolute confidence in our ability to deliver as promised to our clients.
