The journal, which is circulated in 60 countries around the world, is a leader in the field of small business research.

In March 2006, the Journal of Small Business Management earned the distinction of having the highest percent increase in total citations from January 1995 to December 2005 in the field of Economics & Business. According to current ISI Essential Science Indicators database statistics, this journal's record includes 309 papers cited a total of 766 times to date.
