The journal publishes original contributions from all branches of behavioural research on all species of animals, both in the field and lab. It contains scientific articles of general interest in English that are based on a theoretical framework. A section on "Current issues - perspectives and reviews" is included as well as theoretical investigations, essays on controversial topics and reviews of notable books.
