Evolution of Ophiolites in Convergent and Divergent Plate Boundaries

Introduction: Ophiolites are on-land fragments of ancient oceanic lithosphere, and are fundamental to understand the geological, geochemical and geophysical processes operating during the evolution of oceanic lithosphere and hence the Earth through time. Systematic studies of ophiolites and the tectonic environment of their origin require an interdisciplinary approach through international collaboration, as exemplified in the articles collected in this Virtual Special Issue. This issue focuses on the diversity of ophiolites and their origin in various tectonic settings along different plate boundaries.
