Alisdair Rogers
Editor

Ali Rogers is a human geographer at the School of Geography and Environment, Oxford University. He has a wide range of interests, including transnational communities, migration, environmentalism and globalization. Ali is also a Fellow of Keble College, Oxford University.

Robin Cohen
Co-Editor

Robin Cohen is Director of the International Migration Institute, James Martin 21st Century School and Professor of Development Studies at Queen Elizabeth House, Oxford University. He was Professor of Sociology at the University Warwick from 1979 to 2007 and also served as Dean of Humanities at the University of Cape Town (2001/3). He has held full-time appointments at the Universities of Ibadan, Birmingham and the West Indies. His recent books include, Global diasporas (2nd edition 2008), Global sociology (with Paul Kennedy, revised 2007) and Migration and its enemies (2006). He has edited or co-edited 18 further volumes, particularly on labour studies, ethnicity, diasporas, migration, transnationalism and globalisation. Robin’s current project is the first major comparative study of creolization and mixed identity.

Steven Vertovec
Co-Editor

Steven Vertovec is Director of the Max-Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity, Göttingen and Honorary Joint Professor of Sociology and Ethnology, University of Göttingen. Previously he was Professor of Transnational Anthropology at Oxford University, Director of the ESRC Centre on Migration, Policy and Society. Steve’s research interests concern transnational social formations, international migration, ethnic and religious diasporas, cosmopolitanism and multiculturalism. He is the author of Hindu Trinidad (1992), The Hindu Diaspora (2000) and Transnationalism (2008) and editor or co-editor of 22 other volumes.  Steve has acted as consultant or advisor to numerous agencies, including the UK government's Home Office, UNESCO, the European Commission, World Bank and British Council.
