THE ACTION POTENTIAL
Abstract number: L01

STUART1 G

1Division of Neuroscience, The John Curtin School of Medical Research, Canberra ACT 2601, Australia

The action potential is the fundamental electrical signal used by the brain for communication between nerve cells and for interfacing the brain with our bodies. In my lecture I will review recent work on action potentials, including their site of generation, their modulation by subthreshold synaptic input, and their role in synaptic plasticity.
