Weed Research is an international peer-reviewed journal that publishes topical and innovative papers on all aspects of weeds, defined as plants that impact adversely on economic, aesthetic or environmental aspects of any system.   Topics include weed biology and control, herbicides, invasive plant species in all environments, population and spatial biology, modelling, genetics, biodiversity and parasitic plants.   The journal welcomes submissions on work carried out in any part of the world.   In addition to research papers, the journal seeks review articles and shorter insights papers covering personal views, new methods and breaking news in weed science.

Message from the Editor:
Whilst Weed Research is published on behalf of the European Weed Research Society, the journal is truly international with an Editorial Board from across the globe.  This mature journal receives just over half its submissions from outside Europe.  This year, we are publishing Volume 48 and Weed Research will be 50 years old in 2010.  Important developments in and pressures on the management of vegetation in crop and non-crop situations are reported in the journal.  In food crops, the constraints of weeds on yield increasingly impinge on global food security.  Reducing reliance on herbicides on some continents is bringing new challenges to weed scientists, agronomists and ecologists.  The increasing occurrence of invasive non-native plant species in natural and managed areas is requiring large expenditure and threatening habitats and biodiversity; some species are aggravating allergenic reactions in humans.  Basic science on plant biology, ecology and genetics is needed in support of practical advances in vegetation management, so Weed Research covers the range of basic and applied science subjects.  We have been using the Manuscript Central online submission and review platform since 2005.
