In 1998, Experimental Dermatology pioneered a novel public debate feature: CONTROVERSIES IN EXPERIMENTAL DERMATOLOGY. Ever since, this unique forum for the exchange of provocative thoughts and speculative concepts on important, controversially discussed issues in skin biology and skin pathology, has brought together in one jointly co-authored paper internationally recognized authorities with more junior scientists, often joining even competitors into one team of debate contributors that had never before published together.
This innovative, decidedly interdisciplinary and international forum for animated, written debate of pertinent "skin matters" has been greeted enthusiastically by Experimental Dermatology readers and the skin research community at large. The individual discussion features rank among the most cited articles in the journal, enjoy a very high level of visibility, and have already served on several occasions to forge new collaborations between scientists across continents that would otherwise not have easily found together.
We now offer a glimpse into this exciting world of public dermatological debate and provide free electronic access to past features from this series.
